We have done many projects around the school, with the help and support of teachers, parents, students, community members, and local partners, such as the Schuylkill River Project, Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, TD Bank, Delaware Valley Green Building Council (DVGBC), Philadelphia Water Department, Recyclebank, Watershed Church, and Councilman Curtis Jones’s office.
We have installed a 10,000 square foot meadow, which serves as habitat for many local species, including birds and butterflies. Here are before and after pictures.
In the meadow, we have an outdoor classroom, where students can explore nature. We recently added a new path to the outdoor classroom and a sensory table!
We support our Gardening Club by building raised beds and helping to maintain the plants through the summer months.
We installed a native magnolia grove.
We provided supplies to the middle school students who created a pollinator garden.
